Goal 11:

Reduced Inequalities

The difference between the richest and poorest people on our planet is as high as ever. The 26 richest people on the planet own more than the poorest half of humanity. Economic growth is not the cure-all answer for limiting poverty - wealth accumulates for a small number of people but not for everyone. Goal 10 is all about redistributing wealth and stopping financial and social discrimination. Together we can empower people so that everyone enjoys a good standard of living.

The UN’s SubGoals for reduced inequalities

  • Promote universal social, economic and political inclusion
  • Ensure equal opportunities and end discrimination
  • Adopt fiscal and social policies that promote equality
  • Improve regulation of global financial markets and institutions
  • Enhance representation for developing countries in financial institutions
  • Create responsible and well-managed migration policies
  • Special and differential treatment for developing countries

How you can help

1

Raise your voice against any type of discrimination. Everyone is equal regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, social background and physical abilities.

2

Visit local shelters, orphanages or minority community centres and organise a conversation around the importance of their rights.

3

Support migrants and refugees in your communities. Volunteer in a local refugee camp. Gather or donate the appliances, food, clothes needed.
